Global Warming

Bet a lot of you say all of the recent coverage on Green Building and related topics during the month of April. To coincide with Earth Day, many publications got on the media bandwagon with a special Green Issue. Many energy efficient and sustainable home projects were featured, many with a high price tag. In reality, how does the average person afford to "go green"? How does an average person contribute even a small portion to helping Save the Planet? Small steps can contribute.

1. Recycling - Consumer and business waste is a huge problem in the USA and in countries abroad. Start a Recycling Program in your home or office. Often skeptical about how the trash collectors handled recyclables, we now ferry our paper out to a community organization that gets cash for the waste paper. It's a block away, and paper can be easily dropped off while running almost any errand.

2. Think About Your Driving Habits - Although there is much ambiguity with regards to oil supply and demand, and it's a vicious circle because so many politics are involved, there is one fact that remains---less driving means less emissions. So try and schedule your errands and multiple task driving into a sane agenda. Is the hair salon near the shoe store? Why not get both done or maybe more on the same trip?

3. Empower Yourself - For all of your music players, digital cameras, and portable games, consider recyclable batteries. Plain AAs are up to 2500ma these days, and a digital camera will run on them for quite a while. Yes you'll have to use some wall current to charge, but at least they won't wind up in a landfill after one round of use.

Getting in the habit of taking small measures will get you in the habit of thinking about bigger things.

Easyfit Fittings are recyclable too. Projects are easily disassembled if needed, and the fittings can be recycled for an alternate use. And if you can't reuse them, give them away, or sell them. When all else fails, yes, the metal is recyclable.
