Falls In The Home - Nearly 5.1 Million Each Year
Yes, that's an enlightening number. According to an article at Occupational Health & Safety Online, it also a serious public health problem. They also state that the majority of U.S. adults fail to identify falls as a serious home danger. You can read the entire article here.
In northern climates, you can add ice and snow to the mix, where a slippery walk adds to the potential for falls and even possible serious injury. With Easyfit fittings, putting up railings is a snap, and with base flange fittings, you can even install a basic grab rail even when here is no wall mount available.

Coming Soon from Easyfit, Inc. - Toeboard Fitting

It's so new, we don't even have the part number designated yet! While the purpose of a fitting like this may not be apparent to home and hobby users, contactors and industrial users will see the value immediately. The backplate allows for attachment of what is known as a Toeboard. For commercial and industrial railing installations, one of the purposes is to keep tools on the working surface in check and keep them from falling over the edge. We'll keep you posted on the availability date.

The Web and Your Privacy

So, have you ever had one of those very busy days, and upon checking your home or office email, found it overflowing with bogus offers and other needless junk mail? It is unfortunately one of the maladies that has resulted with popularity of the web, and also the desire for some to capitalize on the unknowing. Be assured, at Easyfit, we never share your email address or customer information with third parties.
The sale of customer information, mailing lists, and valid email addresses is big business these days. Unfortunately the information sometimes finds its way into the wrong hands.
Are you overwhelmed by the web? Here are some things that may help you gain some insight:
1. Have you ever signed up for the joke of the day, free stock tips, or have you ever entered an email address for free desktop wallpapers? The circulation of your email address sometimes begins at sites with offers such as these. If you surf the web and just can't resist the free stuff, build a separate email address for that purpose. When it becomes compromed and the junk starts rolling in en masse to the tune of hundreds in a day (and it will!), just delete the address and start with a new one.
2. In addition to the free stuff, you may also receive a free virus. Avoid such sites if you can, and never respond to the pop up windows. Be sure to have proper virus software and firewall in place.
3. Deal only with trusted vendors. Perhaps use a separate address for online shopping. Read their privacy agreement and see what it says about distribution of your submitted information.
4. Never sign a forum post or online bulletin board with your email address. The automated bots (robots) and email harvesters (once they see the @ sign and a dotcom) will nab you.
5. When signing up for an email newsletter or other offer, OPT OUT of everything else if you can. Read the appended offers carefully. They're tricky sometimes.
We hope our web tips help Make Your Life Easier!

Do You DIY?
Cruise around the web these days and you'll find entire communities devoted to DIY, or Do It Yourself. The DIY community uses a variety of materials from store bought to "ready for the junk heap". All types of projects are included, from those for computer and electronics gurus, to those for the longstanding home improvement fan. We found that some of the most popular projects were for racking and shelves.
Packaged shelving and racking units are available at your favorite "mart" store and at home improvement centers, but also consider your items that need storage. While a cheap to moderate price packaged unit may be fine for children's toys, some surplus kitchen items or extra bathroom towels, a lot of the bargain priced units are not suitable for large heavy books, industrial tools, or a vintage record collection. And maybe you've already been there, watching your shelf bow down under heavy weight after it's only been up a few days.
When it comes to building heavy duty storage, Easyfit fittings can come to your rescue. Summertime is prime garage organizing time, so consider Easyfit for durable pipe racking, bike racks, and more. And if you need help designing your Easyfit project, we're always nearby to assist you.

Design in the Electronic World
Back in the old engineering and design days, we took pen to paper where we painstakingly drew our figures and inked in our dimensions. Today, electronic design is in the mainstream. We now offer a selection of CAD drawings for qualified design professionals and business users. Most of our popular fittings are now available in 3D AutoCad 2000 compatible format. You can import the drawing right into almost any 3D design program. CADs can be emailed at your request. Contact our Sales Office with your request at 1-877-EASYFIT, or email sales@easyfit.com. Please include your business name and full contact info. And by the way, we'd love to know what your project is about because we love to see how our fittings are used.

What A Web We Weave
So why do they call it The Web? The internet runs as sort of an autonomous entity. It thrives on text, but mostly, it thrives on linking. How would you ever find alternate sites if it didn't? Search engines and giant directories are nothing more than places to find links. Search engines are built to take your keyword of interest and find related sites for you that hopefully contain your desired keyword. Directories are more structured, offering varied categories to click through in order to find information.
We've included a Links Page on the Easyfit website on our Resources Page. And we're picky about who we let in, so you won't find links to spam sites. Generally our desire is to find link partners in industry and business, but we carefully consider all link requests that are submitted. And our list is growing. We offer engineering resources of high value, links for Industry and Machinery, and even a few scientific resource sites.
Take a drive by our Resources Page, and maybe even hookup with Easyfit yoursef!
We wish everyone a Safe And Happy Fourth of July holiday!
Kind Regards from the Staff at Easyfit!

Have You Asked Your City Today?
Are you looking for hardware to help complete your Easyfit project? Or maybe looking for a haircut? Have you tried the search utility over at Ask.com? They have a neat feature called "Ask City" where you can type in your location and ask it to find the type of business you want. It will output a list, and it will pinpoint the business to a map for you. It will even point you to the business website if it can be found.

Try it at www.ask.com Just click on the "City" icon, type in your zip code and what you are looking for. Great for mapping out household errand runs, and great for travelers who find themselves in a new city but need to find a pizzeria fast.
We hope you enjoyed our Easy Tip!

Global Warming

Bet a lot of you say all of the recent coverage on Green Building and related topics during the month of April. To coincide with Earth Day, many publications got on the media bandwagon with a special Green Issue. Many energy efficient and sustainable home projects were featured, many with a high price tag. In reality, how does the average person afford to "go green"? How does an average person contribute even a small portion to helping Save the Planet? Small steps can contribute.
1. Recycling - Consumer and business waste is a huge problem in the USA and in countries abroad. Start a Recycling Program in your home or office. Often skeptical about how the trash collectors handled recyclables, we now ferry our paper out to a community organization that gets cash for the waste paper. It's a block away, and paper can be easily dropped off while running almost any errand.
2. Think About Your Driving Habits - Although there is much ambiguity with regards to oil supply and demand, and it's a vicious circle because so many politics are involved, there is one fact that remains---less driving means less emissions. So try and schedule your errands and multiple task driving into a sane agenda. Is the hair salon near the shoe store? Why not get both done or maybe more on the same trip?
3. Empower Yourself - For all of your music players, digital cameras, and portable games, consider recyclable batteries. Plain AAs are up to 2500ma these days, and a digital camera will run on them for quite a while. Yes you'll have to use some wall current to charge, but at least they won't wind up in a landfill after one round of use.
Getting in the habit of taking small measures will get you in the habit of thinking about bigger things.
Easyfit Fittings are recyclable too. Projects are easily disassembled if needed, and the fittings can be recycled for an alternate use. And if you can't reuse them, give them away, or sell them. When all else fails, yes, the metal is recyclable.

Girls, and Penguins, Just Want to Have Fun!
Back in 2004 when we started up the Easyfit website, we wanted to make it friendly and approachable, and throw in a little bit of fun to boot. So we adopted the penguin mascot, and named him Maurice. He has traveled far and wide, from the far reaches of Antarctica all the way to North Canton, Ohio! Here's Maurice strolling by during our model shoot in Antarctica (ha ha!) Kelly, our Easyfit model, helps demonstrate some of the pipe fittings on the Easyfit website. We're on the move at Easyfit, and now we're even bloggin'!
Stay tuned for new projects, new products, and more fun from Easyfit!
