It's so new, we don't even have the part number designated yet! While the purpose of a fitting like this may not be apparent to home and hobby users, contactors and industrial users will see the value immediately. The backplate allows for attachment of what is known as a Toeboard. For commercial and industrial railing installations, one of the purposes is to keep tools on the working surface in check and keep them from falling over the edge.
